MXTX Bargain Bin

A WIP Exchange, hosted by the MXTX Tavern Discord.

Rules

Everyone:
Must be AT LEAST 18 years old.

Original Author Rules

1. You can submit a maximum of five (5) WIPs.
2. You have to submit a WIP that you're giving up completely. You can't tell the person who accepts it what to write. They can do whatever they want with it (unless they choose to make it a collaboration).
3. You can submit a WIP as long as you have written at least 100 words for it and it is less than 50% complete.
4. If you submit a WIP, you have to be aware that the person who takes your WIP might not wish to collaborate with you.
5. You cannot remain anon to the staff or to the adoptive author. (You can, however, choose to remain anon when the fic is posted.)

Adoptive Author Rules

1. The finished fic MUST be at least 500 words long. We recommend you keep it under 50,000 words due to the length of the event. (You can always continue it in a series later, if you want!)
2. Respect the triggers and total no-goes that were included with the WIP.
3. You don't need permission to change the following:

Rewrite the submitted WIPRename the submitted WIP
4. Changes you need permission (from the original author) for:

PairingsCharactersTriggersDNW's (Do Not Wants)

Secrecy/Privacy Rules

1. You have to get permission from the original author to share excerpts as you work on it.
2. If you get permission to share an excerpt, you may not @ them without their permission.
3. You can post teasers on socialmedia, but you may not post large sections or post the fic early.
4. You may talk about it, in depth, in the Discord server while the event is ongoing.
5. If the Original Author does not wish to be contacted after submitting their WIP, you must respect that. Any questions about changes that would need to be run by the Original Author should be run by Mods/Admins in the Original Authors stead.
6. Adoptive Authors cannot remain anonymous to the staff OR to the original author. However, you can choose to remain anonymous when the fic is posted.

FAQ

General FAQ

Q. What fandom is this event for?
A. This is for all the MXTX Fandoms: MDZS, TGCF, and SVSSS.

Q: Do I have to fill out the sign-up form to participate in the event?
A: Yes, you do!

Q. Do I need to join the MXTX Tavern Discord server to participate?
A. No, but we encourage it! Our server is built for writers and other fandom creatives, so you can use our writer channels as you work on your WIP for the event! (Or any other WIPs you might be working on!)

Q. What do "Original Author" and "Adoptive Author" mean?
A. The "Original Author" is the author who started the WIP and submits it to the event. The "Adoptive Author" is the author who plans to complete the WIP for the event.

Q. Can artists participate in this event?
A. This event is not open to artists at this time (as illustrators or to submit their own WIP's). We might do another event for artists in the future!

Q. What will happen to unclaimed WIP's at the end of the event?
A. Unclaimed WIP's will be returned to the Original Authors. They can choose to submit them to a special channel for abandoned WIP's after the event is over. If a WIP isn't claimed, you can't just steal it; you have to ask the Original Author for permission even outside of the event.

Q. What is a "small" or "large" WIP?
A. Size is determined by word count:
Small: 500 - 2,000 words
Medium: 2,000 - 10,000 words
Large: 10,000 - 50,000+ words

Q: Does my WIP have to be in English?
A: Nope! The WIP you submit can be in any language. Whoever picks your WIP will need to complete it in that same language, so just make the language clear when you fill out the WIP submission form. (You can complete the form in that language if you'd like.)
However, due to staff limitations, we can (mostly) only answer questions in English, and the Discord server is primarily an English language server.

Original Author FAQ

Q: What counts as a WIP?
A: A WIP must be at least 100 words long and less than 50% complete. It cannot be posted anywhere. (No abandoned WIPs on AO3!)

Q: How do I submit a WIP?
A: You’ll need to fill out the sign-up form first. If you sign up as an Original Author, you’ll get an email in 1-2 days with a link to the WIP submission form. You can access the form directly on the Discord or from the sign-up form.

Q. If you submit a WIP, do you need to complete one?
A. No, you do not.

Q. How many WIPs can I submit?
A. Maximum of five!

Q. When I submit a WIP, what does the Adoptive Author find out about me?
A. All the information in the submission form except for your email, which is for staff use only.

Adoptive Author FAQ

Q. If you want to complete a WIP, do you have to submit a WIP?
A. No, you do not.

Q. Can I claim more than one WIP to finish?
A. Yes, but only at the mid-way check-in if you have finished your claimed WIP.

Q. When I claim a WIP, what does the Original Author find out about me?
A. All the information in the claim form except for your email, which is for staff use only.

Q. Does my completed fic have to be beta’d?
A. We do not require authors to work with a beta, but we encourage it! The best way to find a beta is to post a beta request on our Discord in the #beta-finding channel and ping @Event Beta when you do. If you are not in our Discord, you can email us some brief info about your fic and we will forward it to the list of betas. We had many people sign up as betas for the event, so please ask for a beta!

Q. Will you be assigning us a posting date?
A. Nope. You can post on any day during the two-week posting window. You don’t need to let us know which day ahead of time. The AO3 collection will not be hidden or anonymous, so your fic will be visible as soon as you post it to the collection.

Q. My fic has multiple chapters. Do I have to post the entire fic at once?
A. You are only required to post the first chapter in the posting window. We'd prefer you post the entire fic before October 10, but if you wish to spread out posting past that date, that is fine as well. (We don’t want any more unfinished WIPs to come out of this event!)
